their web pages receive one or more additional relevance points
which work to boost their listings in the PeaKaBoo database.
Relevance
Defined: Search results that are pertinent
to the matter at hand. Relevance is the capability
of an information retrieval system to select and retrieve
data appropriate to a user's needs. The topmost listings
on all search engines should be those that best satisfy the
needs of the users.
All
pages in our index start with a basic revelance listing value
of 1 point plus a relevance value based on an evaluation of
the text on the visible page and the META tags in the HTML
code.
Sites
that display a linked PeaKaboo logo on any of their pages receive
a relevance listing value of at least 2 points. The page
with the logo MUST be one that an ordinary visitor can view
when surfing your site. Pages bearing our logo which
are hidden from potential traffic are not actually supporting
PeaKaBoo and are removed from our database.
If
the logo appears on the MAIN page of the web site it is given
3 relevance points. The main page is any of the following:
index.htm, index.html, default.html, default.htm. The
MAIN page is the first page (not splash page) that is seen
by your visitors.
If
the logo appears at or near the TOP of the MAIN page of the
web site it is given 4 relevance points.
Relevance
points are given in ADDITION to the relevance otherwise earned
by the quality of the page based on the page itself, and its
META tags.
